The BPPP Type-Specific Course
For more than 20 years, the BPPP Type-Specific Course has earned its reputation as the premier program for recurrent flight training around the world. It has been the model for numerous other type-specific training courses.
This course is designed for pilots attending BPPP for the first time, whether you are a retired airline or military pilot, a seasoned veteran of other recurrent training courses, or just started flying recently.
The Type-Specific Course starts on Friday at 9 AM (class check-in starts around 8 AM), and continues through 1 PM on Sunday, for a total of 2 ½ days. In that time you will participate in approximately 16 hours of ground school and 4 hours of flying. In both the Type-Specific and Recurrent Courses, the flight curriculum is conducted in your airplane and is split into two flights during a five-hour window.
The ground school subjects we cover are critical to aviation safety and proficiency. Some of this information will be new to you, some will be review and some will present new ways to think about things you learned in the past, including:
- Flying by the numbers; reducing pilot workload
- Fuel and electrical systems
- Human factors and safety
- Aerodynamics and aircraft limitations
- Emergency procedures
- Weight and balance issues
- Getting more out of your POH
- Beechcraft maintenance issues
- Using GPS for IFR including WAAS
- FAR reviews
- For multi engine pilots: three hours discussing multi engine systems, emergencies, aerodynamics and flying techniques
Each BPPP class is taught by an expert in the subject. Sessions are lively, interactive and offer opportunities to learn from the experience of other pilots in the classroom. Simply put, there is no other pilot training like it.
Is the BPPP Type-Specific Course right for you?
The BPPP program is uniquely different (and less expensive) than many other courses you may have attended.
Attendees of our Type-Specific Course include astronauts John Glenn and Jim Lovell, retired airline and military pilots, numerous pilots who just purchased their first Beechcraft, and pilots of every skill level. Each of these attendees reported having a positive experience at the BPPP Type-Specific Course. Read some of the comments from participants.
We whole-heartedly welcome pilots who attend FlightSafety, SimCom, and other recurrent training programs. Even if you are an old-hand at these other programs, you'll be surprised how much you will enjoy our Type-Specific Course – as well as how much you'll learn. You'll also have opportunities to share your flying experience with other attendees.
